FAQ
Question: What is the difference between Courier and Transporter?
Answer: A courier is normally a composite Door-to-Door pickup and Delivery service while a Transporter is normally a Godown/ Booking Office to Godown/ Delivery office service. While both carry goods, transport is supposed to be cheaper than Courier. But still, Transports normally charge a minimum charge of say 50 or 100 kgs while that of the courier is much less, normally 3,5, 10 or 20 kgs.
Question: How Shipping charges are computed and paid?
Answer: Shipping charge computation is normally a function of Weight and distance covered. In case of dispatch by transport, it includes Cartage up to transport booking office, unloading, transportation charges, delivery charges and GST. While in case of dispatch thru Courier, a composite rate (per kg (subject to a minimum weight) or lump sum) and GST is charged by the courier.
At Packmart.in, if the buyer opts for transportation through courier, the charges are included in the bill else only a nominal Handling Charge ( to cover the cost of cartage up to transport and unloading etc.) is charged and the goods are booked on To-Pay basis. The buyer has to pay and pick the material from the transport company’s Godown/ delivery office.
Question: How are courier charges calculated?
Answer: The courier charges are calculated by multiplying the gross weight of the material ordered with the rate per kg given by the courier company, subject to the minimum chargeable weight condition of the courier. For e.g., if an order of 18 kgs is to be transported and the rate is Rs.12/- per kg then the courier charge would be 18 x 12 = 216. But if the minimum chargeable weight is 20 kgs, the courier charge would be Rs.20 x 12 = 240 and not 216.
Question: How transporter charges are calculated and how these charges are paid?
Answer: Transporter charges are also a function of weight and the distance to be covered but it also includes unloading from the cart, storing, loading on the truck, trans-shipment, share of toll and entry taxes (wherever applicable) Hamali, LR or stationary charges and other such sundry expenses. When a customer orders material at Packmart.in and opts for dispatch thru Transport, a nominal shipping charge is included in the bill to cover the cost of carrying the goods up to the transport office, unloading and loading etc. After that, for the sake of transparency, the goods are booked on ‘To Pay’ basis which the customer pays and gets the delivery of the goods.
Question: How can I return an item purchased from Packmart.in?
Answer: File a Return Form mentioning all the details like invoice no., mode of transport etc. Once received, you will be intimated about the mode of dispatch of the returnable goods. The buyer will have to bear the transportation charges for the return and the balance amount shall be credited to the account from where the payment for the goods was made.
Question: When and on what terms you can return the shipment?
Answer:
1. Within a period of 15 days from dispatch or 7 days from delivery whichever is earlier.
2. That the cost of freight of returned goods shall be borne by the customer.
Question: How Do I Measure for Shrink Film?
Answer: Measuring for shrink film is fairly simple but is determined by the type of shrink product you intend on using. See below for measurement formulas for each type of film. Remember if the exact size needed is not available go to the next size up. All of our shrink film has a shrink rate of at least 30%.
Centerfold Shrink Film Measurement Formula
Let there be a packing a box of width w inches, length l inches and height h inches. In this case, the size of centerfold shrink film roll needed would be (h + l + 2) inches if the length is more than width else (h + w + 2) inches if the width is more than length. One can make bags of desired size out of the roll of width so calculated.
Question: Is shrink wrap and stretch film recyclable?
Answer: Yes, both are recyclable
Question: When Do I use Shrink Film and when do I use Stretch wrap?
Answer: Shrink wrap is commonly used where a bag kind of product is needed to protect and package a product. It is normally used where the item is regular in shape and some amount of sealing is required. It cannot be used on odd shaped objects, while stretch film can. Stretch film can be used even where the item is not regular shaped and is open to environmental vagaries like a machine or cardboard boxes. Shrink films cannot be applied on objects which can’t be exposed to hot air or heat, while stretch film can.
Usually stretch wrap is used to hold boxes and products together on a pallet for transportation. It can also be used to hold other objects together for transportation or storage.
